Welcome to my little corner of Livejournal dedicated to my obsession with making jewelry and other accessories. I've been making jewelry for about 5 years now. I started off using off-loom seed bead weaving to make amulet bags and other accessories. Several of my amulet bags were on display in a gallery in Oregon, and one of my pieces won a best of show award in a community art walk. All of this was while I was in high school.
Since I graduated from high school and found myself in New England, I have been focusing on jewelry making using semi-precious stones, sterling silver, vermeil, gold-filled, glass, crystal, and pearl components. Most recently I have begun to dabble in polymer clay, and I have come to the realization that with my passion for ancient cultures-inspired jewelry styles, I cannot afford to be a components snob; so I've begun including brass, gold- and silever-plated, and simulated stone components in my designs. I don't see this as lowering my quality--I see this as finding a reasonable priced means of branching out into more fascinating styles of jewelry. I believe that all people, not only the very rich, should be able to afford unique, carefully hand-crafted jewelry in a variety of styles. Thus, solid gold and genuine lapis lazuli are generally out of the question.
I also believe strongly in the responsibility of all people to give back what they can to their society. In reflection of this, I am currently working on a line of jewelry that will represent a number of causes that I believe are important, with a portion of each sale going to a reputable organization seeking to find a cure for breast cancer, end domestic violence, protect the environment and endangered species, and fight hunger and poverty in the U.S. and abroad (just to name a few).
Feel free to check out my website (it is a work in progress and temporarily on a free server, so watch out for the pop-ups! Sorry!), and let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Oh, and if for some strange reason you want to listen to me babble about my life as a college senior who is attempting to apply to graduate school and has far too many exceedingly strange friends, check out

Have a wonderful day!
